Caspian Sea and Mount Sabalan
In April 2000, Reza set off from the capital Tehran by mountain bike into the Alborz Mountains in the north of Iran to reach the shores of the Caspian Sea. He managed to reach and then follow the Azerbaijan border, crossing the high mountains to reach the foothills of Mount Sabalan, the second highest peak in Iran (4,800m).
Putting his mountain biking skills to the test, he climbed through the mountain tracks, and then from 3000m had to shoulder his bike for much of the rest of the ascent.
Enjoying the fascinating natural frozen lakes in the peak, and then enjoying the extreme descent on the way down, Reza then experienced a humble living with Shahsavan Nomads in the foothills of the Alborz Mountains.
This was where he first picked up the adventure bug…
