Nepal and Annapurna

In 2010, Reza teamed up with his trusted friend Marco Gustapane to cycle the almighty Annapurna Circuit (APC) and see the entirety of Nepal on mountain bikes. They cycled off-road, over rocky terrain, through Buddhist villages and over terrifying suspension bridges.

When Marco left the expedition, Reza continued on alone. A Maoist protest brought Nepal to a standstill. All roads were blocked. Nothing moved. After four days of cycling these empty roads, Reza’s food and water supplies dwindled to a dangerously low level, and then disappeared altogether.

With nowhere to replenish his supplies – thirsty, hungry and virtually lifeless – Reza was forced to stop, almost passing out on the side of the road. Fortunately, a Nepali shepherd came to his rescue, and Reza was able to continue, making it to his destination: Kathmandu.
